It’s no surprise that I love my city, and I believe Grand Rapids is the best place in America to live! You can read more about that here. I should also let you know how much I LOVE all things fall. Pumpkin spice treats, apple cider, cooler evenings, colorful trees, shorter days, and heavier sweaters… fall presents plenty of opportunity to get out and enjoy the outdoors and make some beautiful memories with friends and family. I took the liberty of composing a GUZMAN events guide to 4 of my fall favorites in Grand Rapids.
PROJECT 1 by ARTPRIZE
It goes without saying that ArtPrize is my favorite art festival around. The festival happens biennially, so you can imagine for art lovers like me the anticipation grows as we get closer. The only downfall is the wait between festivals. The good news is ArtPrize just launched PROJECT 1 (By ArtPrize) which allows you to enjoy a similar art experience in Grand Rapids. So pickup your pumpkin spice latte, get your comfortable shoes on and head down to the city to explore some world-class art displayed in some of your favorite spots. Here is a list and map of the exhibitions in GR.
CATCH A HOCKEY GAME
According to Bleacher Report, Michigan ranks #2 of top 10 Hockey States in America. Hockey is definitely part of Michigan’s culture. If you can’t get to a Detroit Red Wings game, look no further for equal excitement than in Grand Rapids to watch a Griffins game. Part of the AHL, the Griffins were Calder Cup Champions in 2013 and 2017, and are the affiliate team to the Detroit Red Wings. The season opens October 5th-April 11 2020. So, put on your team jersey, bring some friends and family along and cheer on your local team! For more information on schedules and tickets, click here.
FAMILY FRIENDLY HALLOWEEN FUN
Trick or Treat yo’self (and the family) to a community costume party at Coopersville Farm Museum and Event Center. This free day time event will be a big hit to the littles in your crew who love to dress up and make crafts! Trick or Treating is included! Click here for more details.
Still need a pumpkin? Looking for seasonal apples, fresh cider, delicious jams and jellies? There is nothing like hay rides, petting zoos, a challenging outdoor corn maze and the excitement of picking the perfect pumpkin from the patch. Look no further than this list for plenty of Upick options to create more unforgettable memories around the season.
DID SOMEONE SAY HOLIDAYS?
Soon after the excitement of fall, we quickly approach the holiday season. Plan ahead and catch a Cirque show right here in Grand Rapids. This year Cirque Dreams Holidaze Cirque show is a wonderful way to spend meaningful time with one another before the ‘busyness’ of the season settles in. All of your ticket options can be found here.
